We would like to invite you to a webinar organised in the framework of the Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection Community (MBPC) Interreg Med project.

The event is part of the MBPC Working Group 2 activities on Sustainable Use of Natural Resources, coordinated by the CPMR Intermediterranean Commission.

The webinar will focus on Success Stories on Sustainable Small-Scale Fisheries in the Mediterranean Marine Protected Areas.

The online event will be held on March 17, 11:00 – 12:30am.

The aim of this webinar is to report best practices on small-scale fisheries (SSF) governance from renown Mediterranean-based projects:

• “Transforming Mediterranean Small-Scale Fisheries”, led by WWF Mediterranean Marine Initiatives, aims to establish a “co-management for SSF” system in 24 pilot sites from 10 Med countries.
• “FishMPABlue2”, led by Federparchi-Europarc Italy, tested 12 measures of SSF governance and management in 11 pilot MPAs from 6 Med countries.
• MPA networks project, represented by MedPAN, will present its activities related to the “Mediterranean Working Group on Small Scale Fisheries”.

Opportunity will be given to the participants to express their opinions about the showcased best practices and to share their own experience in order to improve SSF governance and participatory approaches. This is a unique opportunity for policy makers to hear experiences “from the field” and be involved in an open-dialogue looking at the potentialities of transferability of participatory approaches for biodiversity protection and management at a regional scale.
