Announcement for a grant on experiments in marine restoration

Object: the activity will be carried out within the framework of the project Marine Ecosystem Restoration in Changing European Seas (MERCES). The project is focused on the restoration of different degraded marine habitats, with the aim of assessing the potential of different technologies and approaches and quantifying the returns in terms of ecosystems services and their socio-economic impacts (see http://www.merces-project.eu/ for further details). Specific aims of the grant will be 1- conducting pilot restoration experiments to improving existing, and developing new restoration actions on degraded subtidal rocky assemblages, through a combination of field and mesocosm experiments, 2-contribute to the assessment of the effects of restoration on ecosystem services by collaborative efforts with partners involved within the project.

Requirements: PhD in Biology, Ecology, Marine Ecology, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences or similar. Scientific background in marine ecology. Documented experience within the framework of descriptive / manipulative experiments dealing with coastal-marine habitats. Scuba diving certification. Good knowledge of the English language.

Geographical area which will host the research: Apulia (Italy)
